I hope you guys aren't sick of me yet. My almost 14 year old daughter has 'come out' to me. I love her and I accept her for who she is, so don't be after telling me to take her to a priest.
My knowledge on the subject is virtually nothing. All I was able to say to her when she made her revelation was 'give me a cuddle.'
The thing is it puts everything on a new playing field, and I don't know the rules.
In my last post, I was advised to get a 'book for parents' - but where from, the bookshop in the nearest town has a few 'lesbian love novels' but no parents guides. We don't seem to have the backup in Ireland that you do in the US, or if we do, I can't find much.
A couple of people mentioned, for example, the facts of life discussion will be different, but how? I don't know how safe sex works for lesbians .
I want to offer her all the love and support I can, but unfotunately 'mum does not know best', and I want to be able to give her practical as well as emotional backup.
